- Natalia: People come hungry. Snacks definitely. Usually, it’s in the hours after work.
- Asks people to arrive at 6:30 pm, so they can leave the day-time job at 6 pm
- Mid-way there’s gonna be a break, important for people to be fed
- How many people attend these meetups?
- Formula: Capacity of about 35. RSVP limit to 70. Usually, 50% come. Unless it rains, you have to take 20% off.
- Having it in the same office is a big boost for hiring
- Gitnation also organizes meetups - they like to rent event spaces
- But usually, it’s in an office of some company that has an interest in that
- Content: How does the CFP look like?
- Hunt people either on Twitter or LinkedIn, and reach out to companies in the same city who use that technology
- A lot of cold-calling involved
- Open CFP message - email all members of the group asking who would like to speak
- Sometimes that brings some results
- Put together a database of people who want to speak
- Pay people to come to the meetup
- Having a fund could help here
